August 28, 2015 12:00 PM
Location: Cosgrove Lounge
The "Get It Online" lunch discussion series presents “How to Create Stories that Stick Using Visuals and Social Media" on Friday, August 28 in the Games Room.
Thanks to the internet and mobile devices, human attention spans are at an all-time low. Today, visual elements are absolutely crucial. Stacey Miller, Senior Manager of Journalist Community Engagement at Help a Reporter Out (HARO), a Cision company, will discuss:
• Why and how to extend the life of owned content and earned content
• How to use tools such as Canva to create simple and original visuals for stories and blogs
• Tactics to re-purpose content and distribute it to new audiences via social media so that it lasts longer
The "Get It Online" lunch discussion series brings experts in social media and digital communication to the National Press Club for a members-only lunch discussion. The speaker will deliver a short presentation, and then will answer questions and lead a discussion. Members and guests should plan to be seated by 12 p.m. The cost of the event includes a buffet lunch, water and iced tea, tax and gratuity. The cost is $15 for members and $75 for non-member guests. The event will conclude by 1:30 p.m.
