In the location class we will start by discussing what location-based tools such as Foursquare, Gowalla and Facebook Places are and how they work. We will then look at how they can be used to gather information, identify sources, and promote yourself or your organization.

There is a class fee of $25 for NPC members and $50 for nonmembers. The fee can be paid by credit card, check, or member account. Register online at http://bit.ly/6f1yyA or by contacting Beth Shankle at [email protected] or 202-662-7509. Participants are welcome to bring their own laptops, but computers will also be provided. Special thanks to the Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation for their generous support of the Eric Friedhiem National Journalism Library's computer-based training programs.
