Moneyball: Brad Pitt, Baseball, and Business Journalism

Based on journalist and author Michael Lewis' bestselling book of the same name, Moneyball features Brad Pitt playing real-life Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane as he attempts to put together a baseball club on a budget by employing computer-generated analysis to draft his players. The movie could win up to six Academy Awards on Sunday, February 26. Supporting actor Jonah Hill snagged a surprise Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Beane's number-crunching, Harvard-educated assistant based on true life NY Mets vice president Paul DePodesta.

The movie will start at 7 p.m. in the McClendon Room. Dinner and drinks will be available for purchase from the Reliable Source. Members and their guests may attend free of charge.
