The Côte d’Ivoire Diaspora in the U.S. Holds Press Conference to Discuss Recommendations for Democracy and Peace Ahead of the Presidential elections in Côte d’Ivoire.
WHO: The Committee of Actions for Côte d’Ivoire (C.A.C.I-USA), a leading political movement for the promotion of peace and democracy in Côte d’Ivoire and West Africa.
Speaker: Eric Edi, Ph.D., Managing Director, C.A.C.I
Program Manager,
Former Adjunct Professor of Global Politics and Human Rights,
Jefferson University, East Falls Campus, Philadelphia. PA.
WHAT: The impact of the 2025 presidential elections in Côte d’Ivoire on democracy and peace in the country and in West Africa. Analyses of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) and the current social and political environment.
WHEN: Thursday, May 29, 2025, From: 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm
WHERE: National Press Club, 529 14th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20045.
WHY: In October 2025, over eight million people will head to the polls to elect the president of Côte d’Ivoire, the top world cocoa producer. Unfortunately, in this West African, populations, voters, and political elites’ distrust in the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), dissatisfaction with the rule of law, and strained diplomatic relations between Côte d’Ivoire and neighboring countries indicate risks of election violence with overspilling consequences for West Africa.
