The NPC Young Members Team will host an informal gathering with nine students visiting Washington, DC from Tsinghua University, the Communications University of China and other prominent journalism schools to participate in the USA Summer Journalism Training Program.

The two-week program, a combination of journalism skills training and public policy discussions, is led by Rick Dunham, a former National Press Club president who now is international director of the Global Business Journalism Program at Tsinghua University. The GBJ master’s program, created in 2007 by the International Center for Journalists and Tsinghua University, has trained more than 400 students from about 60 countries in international best practices in business journalism. Bloomberg News is chief sponsor of the program. Dunham covered the White House for Business Week and was Washington bureau chief for the Houston Chronicle and Hearst Newspapers.

This visit to the National Press Club is design to spark conversations across cultures and continents for looking to start their journalism careers.
