Join this continuation of our national public launch with renowned actor and national ambassador for the 400 Years of African American History Commemoration with Nick Cannon, his team and the Commission. Cannon and his father, James Cannon, will also co-host a white-attire networking reception with spoken word and music featuring jazz musician, producer and entrepreneur Marcus Johnson.
Background. This event will further salute our ancestors in recognizing the tragedies and resilient triumphs which have occurred over the past 400 years since the arrival of the first Africans in the British North American colonies. In August 1619, 20 captive Africans arrived at Point Comfort in the British North American colony of Virginia – 400 years later, the 400 Years of African American History Commission, in coordination with Nick Cannon, requests your attendance and support to further our efforts to build civic and social engagement across the country in recognition of the significance of this anniversary.
We are calling on all Americans to unite and engage with us in this effort to help lift those communities who were stained by the residue of slavery and to help champion the pathways forward beyond the next 400 years that we are calling “THE NEW HISTORY.”
