Captain Bill Hamblet (U.S. Navy, ret.), plans to discuss China’s naval expansion, problems with U.S. shipbuilding, and other maritime issues at the next meeting of the National Press Club's affiliated American Legion post. The meeting will take place at noon on Wednesday, March 11 in the McClendon Room at the Press Club.

Hamblet is editor-in-chief of "Proceedings," the magazine of the U.S. Naval Institute. He's a 1987 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, and he served 29 years on active duty as a naval intelligence officer. He joined the staff of the Naval Institute in 2016.

All Press Club members are invited to the luncheon meeting of American Legion Post 20. To facilitate the luncheon meeting, those who attend in person are asked to use the buffet rather than making individual orders, and to bring $30 in cash to cover the buffet lunch, tax, and tip.
