Special Event

Tom Toles, the Pulitzer Prize winning editorial cartoonist for the Washington Post, will headline the Silver Owls’ Spring Hoot at 6 p.m. Thursday, Apr. 26, in the National Press Club Ballroom. He also will sing and play the drums with his rock band, the Suspicious Package. This will be his and the band’s second appearance at a Hoot. The last time, in 2015, was a sellout, so early reservations are recommended.

The Hoot is open to all Press Club members and their guests. Tickets are $35, which covers one of the club’s superb sit-down dinners, preceded by a cash bar. Reservations can be made at press.org or by contacting the club’s reservations department at 202-662-7501 or [email protected].

Toles will demonstrate his talents and discuss the current state of the art of editorial and political cartooning. Toles worked for the Buffalo Courier-Express and the Buffalo News before succeeding the Washington Post’s Herblock in 2002. He won the Pulitzer Prize in 1990, the National Cartoonist Society Editorial Cartoon Award in 2003 and the Herblock Prize in 2011.
