Democratic Assessment of Republican Right

Representative Fazio, the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committeee, spoke about the 1994 congressional elections. He outlined the challenges Democrats will face in this year's elections, including the anti-incumbency sentiment among the public and the "growing power of the radical right in Republican ranks." In commenting on the recent campaigns in Texas, Minnesota and Kentucky he observed that, "Republicans are being forced to the fringes by the aggressive tactics of the religious right."
