The National Press Club Journalism Institute will host its first Career Office Hour of 2026 on Feb. 3, from noon to 1 p.m. EST.

Corinne Chin, director of news talent at the Associated Press, will join as the first guest. Chin is responsible for recruiting, training, and supporting a diverse and competitive global newsroom at AP. She's also an Emmy-winning video journalist who's worked across the globe and offers trauma-informed safety and security training. For this session, Chin will describe what makes a strong applicant for wire services like AP, and will answer questions about visual journalism, representation, leadership, journalism careers, and safety.

Please sign up for the Feb. 3 session here, and you will receive a link to join the meeting.

About the NPCJI office hour series:

The National Press Club Journalism Institute will host free monthly office hours for jobseekers, those interested in networking, and media professionals hoping to boost their job-search skills throughout 2026.

Starting Feb. 3 and continuing the first Tuesday of each month, the Institute will host a media employer who will share tips on what makes a strong candidate and to answer questions during small-group sessions.

“Hearing directly from hiring managers and networking with other jobseekers can make a huge difference for media professionals navigating a perpetually turbulent journalism job market,” said Beth Francesco, executive director for the Institute, adding that attendees of the 2025 sessions described them as “a lifeline.”

“Job searches can be lonely and feel exhausting. Our goal in restarting these virtual sessions is to inspire new connections while sharing practical, actionable advice on modern job searches.”

Monthly topics will explore careers in social media and engagement, business and tech journalism, sports journalism, and more — and topics will be shared as guest speakers are confirmed. The hour-long sessions will take place via Zoom and will offer community, encouragement, and practical advice for job-seekers at all career levels.
