Broadcasting and Public Interest

Mr. Jordan talked about broadcasting and the public interest in the 1990s. Westinghouse owns the CBS network. He talked about the history of the 1934 Broadcasting Act which first detailed the public interest responsibilities of radio. He also discussed the new developments in media such as digital television. He defined the public interest of the 1990s as news, public affairs, the education of children and coverage of political campaigns. He took questions from the audience.
