IRS Commissioner John Koskinen to headline luncheon during tax season, Thursday

As the tax deadline approaches and presidential candidates talk up their plans for tax reform, John Koskinen, commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, will speak at a National Press Club luncheon this Thursday, March 24.

Koskinen, who has led the agency since December 2013, will discuss the “Future State of Affairs of the IRS,” which collects $3.1 trillion in tax revenue each year, employs about 90,000 people and has a budget of approximately $10.9 billion. Challenges facing the commissioner include improving customer service and dealing with the risk of hacking and identity theft.

Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m., with remarks beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $24 for Club members, who may purchase two tickets at this rate, and $38 for all other non-member tickets. Tickets may be purchased online.
