Author schedules May 12 Book Rap to discuss first ladies

Lauren A Wright plans to discuss her new book, On Behalf of the President: Presidential Spouses and White House Communications Strategy Today, at a National Press Club Book Rap at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 12, in the NPC’s Conference Rooms.

The event is sponsored by the NPC’s Book & Author Committee and includes an author discussion, question-and-answer session from the audience and book signing. Tickets are $5 for Press Club members and $10 for the public. Tickets can be purchased online by clicking here.

This event is a fundraiser for the nonprofit NPC Journalism Institute. Books can be purchased online at the same time as tickets, or at the event. No outside books or memorabilia are permitted.

Wright graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from Wake Forest University in 2010 and earned a Ph.D. in Government from Georgetown University in December 2014. She currently serves as Director of Investor Relations for NV5 Global Inc., a publicly-traded engineering and environmental services corporation with offices nationwide that trades on the Nasdaq under the symbol: NVEE.

In On Behalf of the President: Presidential Spouses and White House Communications Strategy Today, Wright uses speeches, interviews, and experiments to explore how presidential spouses are used to enhance the public reputation of presidents and their policy agendas, and how they might influence public opinion.
