AFL-CIO President Trumka plans to outline union strategy at NPC Luncheon, April 4

Just beyond the halfway mark in President Donald Trump's first 100 days in office, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka will address the National Press Club on April 4 to outline the labor movement’s strategy.

The event begins with lunch at 12:30 p.m.. Trumka will make his remarks at 1 p.m. followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $25 for Press Club members (members may purchase two tickets at this rate) and $39 for all other non-member tickets. Trumka will assess opportunities around trade and infrastructure that could create good jobs, as well as possible threats to workers' rights. He is expected to talk about the labor movement's approach to create a unifying agenda for working families, and union's intent to ensure that all workers –- union and non-union –- have the right to bargain collectively for better wages and working conditions.

Trumka has served since 2009 as president of the 12.5 million-member AFL-CIO, the largest organization of labor unions in the country. An outspoken advocate for social and economic justice, Trumka heads the labor movement's efforts to create an economy based on broadly shared prosperity, and to hold government and employers accountable to working families.

NPC Members who wish to attend the pre-luncheon reception must RSVP separately to [email protected] 48 hours before the event. Space may be limited. You must have a paid reservation for the luncheon to attend the VIP reception.
