Tonight: Amazon's quest for power is subject of Book Rap by Wall Street Journal reporter

Dana Mattioli, a Wall Street Journal reporter and Pulitzer Prize finalist, plans to discuss her upcoming book, "The Everything War: Amazon’s Ruthless Quest to Own the World and Remake Corporate Power," at a Headliners Book Rap on Wednesday, May 1, at 6 p.m.

Tickets cost $5 for Club members and $10 for the general public. Purchase tickets online.  Pre-ordered books will be available for pickup and signing at Amazonthe event. A limited number of books are also expected to be available for purchase at the door.

Mattioli has spent years covering Amazon and this book is “the first untold, devastating exposé of Amazon's endless strategic greed, from destroying Main Street to remaking corporate power, in pursuit of total domination, by any means necessary,” according to the book’s publisher.

"The Everything War" is being published as Amazon faces an antitrust lawsuit brought by the Federal Trade Commission and nearly 20 states last year. The company settled an antitrust investigation in Europe in 2020.

Mattioli has been a Journal reporter since 2006 and has covered Amazon since 2019. In 2021, she received the Gerald Loeb Award for Beat Reporting and the WERT Prize, an award from the Women’s Economic Round Table that honors excellence in comprehensively reported business journalism for her Amazon investigations. She was the subject of a Journal campaign about how the newspaper’s highest-profile stories came together.

The program is scheduled to include a question-and-answer session. To submit a question in advance, put Amazon in the subject line and email it to [email protected].
