Thriller author discusses "Devil's Light," 6:30 pm May 4

Author Richard North Patterson will discuss his latest thriller, The Devil's Light, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 4.

A nuclear bomb is about to explode in a major city whose streets will turn bright with the light of a thousand suns. That's the setting for a novel in which Patterson slips into the minds of the mad and messianic and explores what it will mean for all of us if we allow an apocalyptic nightmare to become tomorrow's history-bending reality.

Reservations are required. RSVP at [email protected] or call 202-662-7523.

The author graduated in 1968 from Ohio Wesleyan University and in 1971 from Case Western Reserve University's School of Law. He has served as an assistant attorney general in Ohio, a trial attorney for the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington and San Francisco and was the SEC's liaison to the Watergate special prosecutor. He retired from the practice of law in 1993 to devote himself to writing.

Patterson is a frequent speaker on political, legal, and social issues. In 2004, he addressed Washington rallies in support of reproductive rights and against gun violence.

He has a string of bestsellers to his credit including The Lasko Tangent, Degree of Guilt, Eyes of a Child, Balance of Power, Conviction, Exile, The Race, Eclipse, and The Spire.

Patterson lives in San Francisco and on Martha's Vineyard with his wife, Nancy Clair.

Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing for $26.00. Proceeds benefit the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library. No outside books will be permitted. There is a $5.00 charge for non-members.
