Roger E. Coleman Jr., public relations executive, dies at 74

Roger Ellzey Coleman Jr., a member of the National Press Club and formerly a public-relations executive with the National Food Processors Association, died Jan. 21, at his home in Lottsburg, Va. He was 74.

Coleman came to the Washington area from Mississippi in 1960 and began his career as a public-relations specialist, working for the Salt Institute and for railroad assoiations before joining the National Food Processors Association (now known as the Grocery Manufacturers of America). He retired in 1995.

Coleman was a native of Monticello, Miss., and a 1960 graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Clark Coleman, two children, three granddaughters and a sister.
