Philanthropic leaders to discuss donor-advised funds Monday, June 16

Philanthropic leaders will discuss the changing face of philanthropy in America at a Newsmakers event Monday, June 16 at 10 a.m.

Foundations that bear the names of the Fords, Carnegies, Rockefellers, and many other American visionaries have long been well known for their positive impact on American life. Equally as inspiring, but less well known, has been the role played by foundations and individual donors that work with few or no staff. Collectively, these philanthropists represent the largest segment of the U.S. philanthropic community. They practice a unique style of philanthropy - one that is agile, responsive, and grounded in the passion they have for their communities and priority issues.

This diverse community of donors is growing. A recent report by the National Philanthropic Trust found that assets in donor-advised fund accounts totaled a staggering $45 billion-plus in 2012,an 18% jump from the year before.
