Oscar-winner Patricia Arquette plans to address gender pay gap at April 12 Newsmaker

Academy-Award winner and pay-equity advocate Patricia Arquette, joined by Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-New York, ranking member of the Congressional Joint Economic Committee, plans to address a National Press Club Newsmaker news conference, Tuesday, April 12, at 10 a.m., in the NPC's West Room.

Like all Newsmakers events, this news conference is open to credentialed media and NPC members, free of charge. No advance registration is required.

Maloney and Arquette plan to discuss findings of a report to be released the same day, "Gender Pay Inequality -- Consequences for Women, Families, and the Economy" that includes a state-by-state ranking of the gender pay gap along with a detailed analysis of the income inequality faced by women in their paychecks and over a lifetime.

Arquette is best known for her Oscar-winning performance in the film "Boyhood", the critically acclaimed 12-year project by Richard Linklater for which she won the 2015 Oscar for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture. Upon receiving the award, she made a strong statement about the challenges and pay discrepancies women face in the workforce. She currently appears as Special Agent Avery Ryan on the CBS show "CSI: Cyber".

Rep. Maloney, first elected to Congress in 1992, is the senior member of the House Financial Services Committee, the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, and the ranking House member of the Joint Economic Committee. She is the lead sponsor of the Equal Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
