Learn how to find freelance business journalism assignments, 6:30 pm Jan. 23

Fara Warner, a former freelance journalist for top publications and now the editorial director of Aol Business, Technology and Entertainment Group, will join John Burgess, a longtime editor for The Washington Post and AARP Media, to conduct a workshop on freelance writing in business and financial news for print and online media at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 23 in the Bloomberg Room.

Organized by the National Press Club’s Freelance Committee, the workshop will explore topics including the volatile market for freelance business and financial journalism, the characteristics of an effective pitch to editors and how to negotiate reasonable freelance terms. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers, and participants are invited to bring examples of successes and lessons learned in freelance writing.

Seating for the workshop is limited. Participants must register in advance.

The workshop is free for Club members and $10 for non-members. Register here. Club members must log into Club website to access discount code.
