Kennedy Center hosts performance of National Press Club member's play, Sept. 2, 11 a.m.

The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts hosts a Seventh Street Playhouse production of The Tragedy of King Saul by National Press Club member Anthony E. Gallo on Saturday, Sept. 2, at 11 a.m. in the Russian Lounge.

This two-act play examines the life of Israel's first monarch, King Saul, who was chosen by God but lost divine favor. The ingredients in this play make for intense drama more in line with the ancient Greek tragedies: murder, betrayal, power, depression, fighting, military battles, insecurity, and jealousy. A discussion will follow the performance.

This year’s production marks the tenth consecutive year one of Gallo’s plays has been performed in the Page-to-Stage Festival.

There is no charge for performance. A free shuttle is available from the GW Metro Station or parking at the Kennedy Center is $23.
