Julia Child wishes 1997 luncheon guests 'Bon Appetit'

April 25, 1997: Julia Child, author, chef and PBS television star, wishes Press Club luncheon guests “Bon Appetit!”

April 22, 1980: Famed tenor Luciano Pavarotti appears at a Club luncheon. The second of the “Three Tenors,” Placido Domingo, speaks in his role as general director of the Washington National Opera in 2004.

April 27, 1955: Vice President Richard M. Nixon, a Club member, plays the piano for singers Sen. Lyndon B. Johnson, D-Texas, and Speaker of the House Rep. Sam Rayburn, D-Texas, at the Club’s Congressional Night, a decade after then-Vice President Harry S. Truman had played the Club piano for actress Lauren Bacall.
