ICANN CEO to announce launch of new Internet addresses at Jan. 11 newsmaker

ICANN President and Chief Executive Officer Rod Beckstrom and Board Chair Stephen Crocker will announce the launch of hundreds of new generic top-level Internet domains (gTLDs).

ICANN's new gTLD program is the most significant change to the Internet's naming system since 1998. For the first time, generic TLDs can include words in non-Latin languages and scripts, such as Chinese or Arabic.

The Newsmaker will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11 in the National Press Club's Zenger Room.
