House Armed Services Committee chairman to speak at Jan. 13 luncheon

House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mac Thornberry (R-Texas) will speak at a Club luncheon on Wednesday, Jan. 13.

Thornberry is looking at ways to overhaul how the Pentagon buys its weapons systems, involving defense contractors in the effort. He succeeded Rep. Buck McKeon of California, who retired, as chairman in January 2015. Thornberry was first elected in the Republican landslide of 1994 that ended 40 years of Democratic control of the House.

The luncheon will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m. Remarks will begin at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m. Tickets may be purchased by clicking here. The cost of luncheon admission is $24 for Club members and $38 for non-members. Tickets must be purchased at time of reservation.
