Head of family research council to speak on 'biblical values' at Sept. 12 luncheon

Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council (FRC), will speak at a Sept. 12 luncheon on the role of "biblical values" in the November elections. Perkins plans to discuss what he regards as threats to religious liberties, traditional marriage and the unborn.

The FRC defines itself as a "Christian organization promoting the traditional family unit and the Judeo-Christian value system." The Southern Poverty Law Center has designated the FRC as a hate group, a label disputed by Perkins.

He also will talk about the Aug. 15 shooting at FRC headquarters, when a gunman opened fire and wounded a FRC staffer.

Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m. The formal program, which includes a question-and-answer session, begins promptly at 1 p.m. and concludes at 2 p.m. The event will be held in the National Press Club ballroom 13th floor, National Press Building, 529 - 14th Street, NW, Washington, D.C. Tickets to this event are limited to members and their guests only. Tickets cost $19 for Press Club members, $30 for guests of members. To reserve tickets, please e-mail [email protected] or call 202-662-7501. Tickets must be paid for at time of reservation.
