Hari Sreenivasan, PBS Newshour correspondent, joins 5K race

Hari Sreenivasan, on-air and online correspondent PBS NewsHour, will compete in the National Press Club’s 14th Annual Beat the Deadline 5K race on Saturday, June 11. The race time has been changed to 7:30 a.m.

Sreenivasan joins the 5K Media Challenge to compete against other national news figures, including CNN's Suzanne Malveaux (race marshal) and Jill Dougherty, Fox News anchor Kelly Wright, Newsweek's Eleanor Clift, C-SPAN's Steve Scully, and Washington Post's Vicky Hallett.

Sreenivasan is responsible for regular news updates on the NewsHour’s Web site in addition to appearing nightly on the program. While at CBS News, Sreenivasan regularly reported on the “CBS Evening News,” “The Early Show,” and “CBS Sunday Morning.” Prior to working for CBS, he was an anchor and correspondent for ABC News.

Media organizations have been challenged to form their own teams to compete against other media groups. For more information on creating teams and registering for the race, goto www.press.org/5K.

The Club extends special thanks to our Beat the Deadline 5K sponsors, who help support the efforts of the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library to promote education and diversity in journalism. For sponsorship opportunities, contact 5K Race Director Melinda Cooke, [email protected].
