Get tips on how to use LinkedIn as a journalist April 10

LinkedIn is a powerful social media tool that can help journalists connect with sources and story ideas. To learn how to use it effectively, join the National Press Club Journalism Institute's professional development committee for a skill-building session focused on best-practices and optimizing your presence on this popular platform on Friday, April 10, from 9:30-11:00 a.m. in the Bloomberg Room.

Registration is required by clicking here. Fee: $5 for National Press Club members, $10 for nonmembers. Club members should log in for the promo code.

During this session, we will explore how to:

  • Build robust LinkedIn groups that get your audiences talking and connecting, provide story ideas and provide access to rich sources.

  • Use LinkedIn to crowdsource content and connect people to your other content platforms and networks.

The session will be led by Peter Panepento, a social-media and content strategy consultant who helps media organizations, trade associations and nonprofits build stronger online communities. He has more than 20 years of journalism experience, most recently as assistant managing editor at The Chronicle of Philanthropy, where he led its digital journalism and social-media efforts.

Panepento is a frequent media source on key trends and insights related to nonprofits and social media for outlets such as NPR, The New York Times, ABC News, Forbes, The Washington Post and Mashable.
