Education Secretary Arne Duncan booked as luncheon speaker, Sept. 30

Education Secretary Arne Duncan, one of President Barack Obama’s original cabinet members, will discuss what’s ahead in education policy at a National Press Club luncheon on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Duncan’s speech will come as Congress works to complete the reauthorization of the legislation best known as “No Child Left Behind” - the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). ESEA was due to be reauthorized in 2007, but Congress has been unable to act on the issue so far.

Lunch will be served at 12:30 p.m., with remarks beginning at 1 p.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $23 for National Press Club members (NPC Members may purchase two tickets at this rate) and $37 for all other nonmember tickets.
