Dinner At The Press Club With The Iraqi Ambassador To The United States

24

Iraq's ambassador to the U.S. says Iraqi forces could not have defeated the Islamic State group without help from the U.S.-led coalition and paramilitary troops. In this edition of Update-1, Fareed Yasseen tells Press Club President Jeff Ballou that the battle with ISIS militants has been a transformative experience that has given the country a new spirit. He also describes the press as the "great equalizer" in the struggle to bring democracy to areas where it doesn't exist much, if at all. The ambassador requested the inclusion of this post-event fact correction: Where he said the surge concepts originated in the city of Tuz Khurmatu, he submits the city of Talafar in its place. Yasseen's appearance was part of the club's new Ambassador Dinner Series.
