In the gig economy and changing employment landscape many National Press Club members are freelancing as journalists and PR professionals, or may be doing so in the future. It is more important than ever to authentically reach potential clients. Even traditional jobs within established institutions require a robust social media following and public presence to get the attention of bosses and expand the reach of your work.

Club members are invited to a professional development session to learn ways to present yourself and get basic tools to start you on your way. The event is April 11, from 8-9 a.m. in the Cosgrove Lounge. It is free to members but registration is required.

The presenter will be Angel Livas, the President, and CEO of DC Media Connection, LLC; the Chief Engagement Officer of Creative Introduction, LLC; the Founder of The Woman Behind The Business; and the host of “The Woman Behind The Business” Talk Show, which airs on 96.3FM – HD4. She is a Gracie Award-Winning Executive Producer and has built an impressive online marketing presence.

In 2016, Angel was highlighted in the Washington Business Journal under “People On The Move” and named “Influential Business Woman of 2016” by AI Magazine. Before launching Creative Introduction, Angel oversaw six-nationally syndicated talk-radio shows, which included producing programming for award-winning celebrity hosts: Larry King & Jane Pauley.

This event, organized by the club’s Communicators Team, is open to all members at no charge, and includes continental breakfast.
