Doctor Leal SpenglerJoin Cuban Officials and Doctor Leal Spengler, Director of Old Havana, Cuban restoration on September 12th at 6:00 p.m.. Doctor Spengler will provide slides of the transformation in this old city and the work he has done to preserve it.

Havana City historian. President of the National Commission of Monuments, President of the Cuban ICOM Committee and Honorary President of the Cuban ICOMOS Committee and of the civil society (NGO) “Heritage, Community and Environment”; Dean of the faculty of the San Jerónimo de La Habana University College, Title of Emeritus Professor at the University of Havana.

Director of the restoration program of Old Havana and its historical center, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As the Historian of the City of Havana, Doctor Leal Spengler has created and promoted a humanist vision of the cultural and patrimonial recovery of that City. The project of integral development and rehabilitation, which he has led in the Historical Center of Havana since 1967, has been recognized at national and international levels for its importance in the economic, social and physical fields.

A Doctor of Historical Sciences, Leal Spengler is an Ambassador of Good Will of the United Nations. He has been a member of the Cuban National Assembly (Parliament) during its 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th sessions. President of the Cuba – Mexico Friendship Parliamentary Group.

He has given lectures at dozens of universities worldwide and is the recipient of numerous national and international orders and awards.

Dr. Eusebio Leal is the author of the following books: Regresar en el tiempo (Going back in time), Detén el paso caminante (Stop walking), Verba Volant, Fiñes (Kids), Carlos Manuel de Céspedes El Diario Perdido (The Lost Diary), La Luz sobre el Espejo (The Light on the Mirror), Poesía y Palabra (Poetry and Word) I and II, Para no Olvidar (Lest We Forget) I, II and III; Fundada Esperanza (Founded Hope), Patria Amada (Beloved Homeland), Bio-Bibliografía (Bio-Bibliography)( I, II and III) and Legado y Memoria (Legacy and Memory).
