Dennis Quaid, actor and patient safety advocate, came to the Press Club on April 12, 2010 to speak about the prevention of nearly fatal medical errors. Quaid's newborn twins received a potentially deadly overdose of Heparin in 2007. He also promoted the launch of new National Alert Network for Serious Medication Errors (NAN) with the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Quaid and his wife also started "The Quaid Foundation" to raise public awareness about medical errors.
