NPC to hold reception marking centennial of American Legion Post 20 National Press Club members, especially veterans, and spouses/guests are invited to a reception on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m. to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of American Legion Post 20. The Club is once again hosting an evening of music with Blues Alley, Georgetown’s home for jazz for an evening of great music, and this year there's a literary twist. Larry Tye will be on hand to discuss his new book The Jazzmen: How Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong and Count Basie Transformed America. It looks mainly at those maestroes' lives off their bandstands, and how they set the table for the civil rights revolution. Books will be available for purchase at the event.
