Vice Presidential Debate Watch
The National Press Club will hold a watch party for the debate between vice presidential candidates Democrat Tim Walz and Republican JD Vance on Tuesday, Oct. 1, starting at 9 p.m. Club members and guests can watch the debate on a wide plasma screen in the Truman Lounge and in the adjacent Reliable Source restaurant, by the fireplace. The restaurant will be open until 9:45 p.m., serving dinner and bar snacks.

A variety of long-favorite German dishes will highlight the menu at the Club’s annual observance of Oktoberfest on Thursday, Oct. 26, at the Reliable Source restaurant. And there will be more: Adding gaiety to the evening's revelry will be accordion player Russell Wilson. A member of the Marine Band, he often has performed at the White House. National Labor Relations Board General Counsel Jennifer A. Abruzzo will join labor leaders on Tuesday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. for a National Press Club Headliners panel to discuss the state of union organizing in the United States. Abruzzo will be joined by Brian Petruska, general counsel of the Laborers International Union of North America (LIUNA) Mid-Atlantic Regional Organizing Coalition, and Jon Schleuss, international president of The NewsGuild-CWA. National Press Club member Natalie Jacobsen will discuss her new novel, "Ghost Train", at a member author event in the Cosgrove Lounge on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. "Ghost Train," Jacobsen’s debut novel, is historical fiction based in Meiji Era-Japan. Set in 1877 Kyoto, "Ghost Train" tells the story of Maru Hosokawa, a samurai daughter whose life changes when her father gives up his samurai sword.
