Historian and popular commentator Heather Cox Richardson will join us for Cocktails & Conversation on Jan. 16 at the National Press Club. Heather Cox Richardson is a professor of history at Boston College. Her award-winning books have covered the Civil War, the Gilded Age, the American West, the history of the Republican Party, and other topics. Her most recent book, “Democracy Awakening: Notes on the State of America,” was a New York Times bestseller. Foreign ministers from Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia will speak at a National Press Club Newsmaker on the latest news and events happening in the Baltic region including its recent actions to disconnect from the Russian electricity grid, a major move in achieving energy independence. Tice Family Press Conference
News Conference with family of journalist Austin Tice, currently held in Syria. This event is a program of the newly formed Press Freedom Center of the National Press Club. The Tices have been invited by the Center to discuss this case and take questions from the press. This is the first time the entire Tice family has been in Washington to advocate for the return of their brother who has been held in Syria since 2012.
