Join NPC members and their guests for the official opening of the 26th annual members' photography exhibit, Wednesday, September 3 at 6 p.m. in the First Amendment Lounge. All NPC members are again invited to display their best photography, as digital images or print photos, in the main 13th floor lobby for the whole month of September. As before, Club members may submit their original photography on any subject, but this year we plan to highlight images of climate change effects and mitigation efforts. American Legion Post 20 Meeting April 9 to Honor Vietnam Veterans and Legendary Vietnam Journalist
Vietnam veterans will be honored at the April 9 luncheon meeting of American Legion Post 20, which is affiliated with the National Press Club. The meeting will take place at noon in the McClendon Room. The guest speaker will be Major General Edward J. Chrystal, Jr., director of the United States Vietnam War Commemoration. MG Chrystal will have pins for Vietnam veterans. In addition, Post 20 2nd Vice Commander Kevin Wensing will present a framed tribute honoring legendary reporter Joe Galloway, who was posthumously awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal recently by President Biden. On October 13, 1775, the Continental Congress authorized the creation of a naval force, and the upcoming meeting of American Legion Post 20 looks ahead to the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Navy. National Press Club President Emily Wilkins will recognize journalist and communicator members for outstanding service to the Club at the Vivian Awards ceremony on Wednesday, December 11 at 6:00 p.m. The presentation will take place at the National Press Club in the First Amendment Lounge and is open to those Club members who are actively involved with one of the Club's 16 teams. "The Vivians" are named after former club president Vivian Vahlberg and honor the Club's top volunteers.
