Media On Tap with Thom Loverro
ESPN 980 AM radio personality and Washington Examiner columnist Thom Loverro will speak at the Young Members committee's Media On Tap. Loverro, who co-hosts "The Sports Fix" on 980 weekdays from 12-2pm and makes appearances on 980's "The Sports Reporters" weekdays 4-7pm, was named Maryland Sports Writer of the Year in 2009 as a sports reporter at the Washington Times, where he worked from 1992-2009. Kim Barker will discuss her book, "The Taliban Shuffle: Strange Days in Afghanistan and Pakistan." Barker was an unlikely foreign correspondent—she did not own a passport, only spoke English, and knew little about Osama bin Laden or Islam.
