The Club is once again hosting an evening of music with Blues Alley, Georgetown’s home for jazz for an evening of great music, and this year there's a literary twist. Larry Tye will be on hand to discuss his new book The Jazzmen: How Duke Ellington, Louis Armstrong and Count Basie Transformed America. It looks mainly at those maestroes' lives off their bandstands, and how they set the table for the civil rights revolution. Books will be available for purchase at the event. Relationships between politicians and the media who cover them have been tested throughout history, but on Thursday, June 27, 2024 in the National Press Club’s historic ballroom, fun and friendly competition will prevail as lawmakers and reporters compete in the uproariously entertaining Press vs. Politicians Spelling Bee.
