NPC Luncheon with President Sebastián Piñera of Chile
President Sebastián Piñera will be the guest speaker at a National Press Club Luncheon on Tuesday June 4. Mr. Piñera was elected President of Chile in January, 2010. Prior to his service as President, Mr. Piñera had a distinguished career in government, business and education. He has a PhD in Economics from Harvard. Members and guests are invited to Dinner and a Movie Night on May 9th in the Reliable Source featuring Academy Award Nominee, Quvenzhane Wallis in Beasts of the Southern Wild. The movie will begin at 7:00 p.m. Beasts of the Southern Wild highlights the life of Hushpuppy ( Wallis) in a Louisiana Bayou where optimism and fantasy take her on an adventure to find her mother in the midst of a terrible storm. Advance screening of "The Central Park Five," a film by Ken Burns
The National Press Club presents an advance screening of the award-winning documentary filmmaker Ken Burns’ latest project, The Central Park Five, on April 11 at 6:45 pm. The film, which premieres April 16 at 9:00 p.m. on PBS, tells the story of five Black and Hispanic Harlem teenagers wrongly convicted of raping a white woman in New York City’s Central Park in 1989. NPC Luncheon with Thomas Drake, NSA Whistleblower
Thomas Drake, a former Senior Executive at NSA who was charged under the espionage act after he blew the whistle on waste and fraud and illegal activity at the intelligence agency, will speak at a March 15 National Press Club luncheon. Drake's event is part of the club's effort to recognize Sunshine Week, a national initiative to underscore the importance of open government and freedom of information. NPC Tour hosted by the Freelance and History Committees
The Freelance Committee will be partnering with the History Committee to offer a tour of the National Press Club to current and potential freelance members on March 7 at 4 pm. The tour, conducted by Gil Klein, will cover the Club's storied past, view the broadcast and working journalist facilities, and discuss the features that make the Club so attractive to freelancers. The tour will conclude in the Reliable Source for networking.

Dinner and a Movie Night: Act of Valor
Visit the Reliable Source on February 7th for Dinner and a Movie Night featuring "Act of Valor". "Act of Valor" highlights a specific mission with seven Navy SEALs to find an assailant after a terrorist plot results in the assasination of a U.S. Ambassador and his family. The movie features heart-pounding action and was nominated for a Golden Globe in 2012. The movie will be shown in the McClendon Room. First Friday Taco Night is back at the National Press Club for 2018. If your New Year’s resolutions include “meet more people at the NPC,” we have the right way to kick it off. In the new Netflix Original Documentary "SAVING CAPITALISM," author and former Labor Secretary Robert Reich and award-winning writer and director Jacob Kornbluth take a deep dive into America's staggering socio-economic divide and search for solutions.
