Join us for an interesting discussion about how ethnic media and other media outlets are tackling the huge problem of news deserts for communities that are underserved by many mainstream media outlets. Communities of color or underrepresented groups often do not have their stories or concerns told unless they are connected to a big (often negative) event. Wall Street Journal Reporter Evan Gershkovich was detained by Russian security services on March 29, 2023, while reporting in Yekaterinburg, Russia and has been held in Moscow’s Lefortovo Prison ever since.
