Washington Navy Yard Tour: Sponsored by the NPC Events Team
The NPC Events Team and NPC American Legion Post 20 are sponsoring a tour of the historic Washington Navy Yard on Friday, June 1, at 11 a.m. NPC members and guests should meet just outside the Navy Yard’s Sixth Street gate on M Street SE. Attendees will accompany escorts through security. Commercial parking is nearby; the nearest Metro stop is Navy Yard/Ballpark Station (New Jersey Avenue exit). NPC Members Tour of the Washington, DC world headquarters of NPR
The Events Committee has scheduled a one hour tour, for Press Club members of the Washington, DC world headquarters of NPR. The one-hour, guided tour will take us through the NPR Newsroom and studios, tell us about NPR’s history and mission and give us a glimpse of daily life at NPR. The tour will take place on Tuesday, March 22 from 2:00 to 3:00. There is no cost for the tour, but we are limited to a maximum of 20 people, registration is first come basis. This event is open to NPC members ONLY.

Young Members Visit to Lincoln’s Cottage
All Press Club Young Members are invited to attend a visit to Lincoln’s Cottage. The historic Cottage, built in the Gothic revival style, was constructed from 1842 to 1843 as the home of George Washington Riggs, who went on to establish the Riggs National Bank in Washington, D.C. Lincoln lived in the cottage June to November 1862 through 1864 and during the first summer living there, Lincoln drafted the preliminary draft of the Emancipation Proclamation. Mary Todd Lincoln fondly recalled the campus; in 1865, she wrote, "How dearly I loved the Soldiers' Home." The tour will also include a…
