Photography Committee Holiday Party
This year's Photo Committee holiday party happens on Tuesday, 17 December at 12 noon in the McLendon Room, next to the Reliable Source. We'll start with a self-serve, self-funded lunch, with the party following lunch. We will use the occasion to recognize our intrepid volunteer photographers, who answered our calls to cover Club events in the past year. Those individuals deserve our heartfelt thanks, and we'll do just that on 17 December. And the holiday party will give participants a chance to show off a holiday photo and tell the story behind the photo. Which holiday? That's up to you.…

Young Members Visit to Lincoln’s Cottage
All Press Club Young Members are invited to attend a visit to Lincoln’s Cottage. The historic Cottage, built in the Gothic revival style, was constructed from 1842 to 1843 as the home of George Washington Riggs, who went on to establish the Riggs National Bank in Washington, D.C. Lincoln lived in the cottage June to November 1862 through 1864 and during the first summer living there, Lincoln drafted the preliminary draft of the Emancipation Proclamation. Mary Todd Lincoln fondly recalled the campus; in 1865, she wrote, "How dearly I loved the Soldiers' Home." The tour will also include a…

Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America VP to speak at American Legion Post 20 meeting
Tom Porter, the Executive Vice President for Government Affairs, Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America, will be the guest speaker at the National Press Club's American Legion Post 20 meeting on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 12 noon in the McClendon Room. Porter will discuss the recently passed PACT Act, which expands VA health care and benefits to veterans exposed to burn pits and other toxic substances. Voice of America Chief National Correspondent Steve Herman will be the guest speaker at the National Press Club's American Legion Post 20 meeting on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 12 noon in the McClendon Room. Herman will discuss the war in Ukraine, and efforts to get accurate information into Ukraine and Russia. Herman has served as a VOA correspondent and bureau chief in India, Korea, and Thailand. The next meeting of American Legion Post 20 will take place on Wednesday, March 15 at noon in the McClendon Room. The guest will be Dr. Jennifer London. Dr. London's late husband, Dr. J Phillip "Jack" London, built CACI into a Fortune 500 company that supports critical national security priorities.
