The National Press Club will hold a moment of silence in observance of the third anniversary of the murder of Saudi journalist and Washington Post Global Opinions contributing columnist Jamal Khashoggi on Friday, October 1 at 3:00 p.m. ET. The National Press Club will hold a moment of silence in observance of the fifth anniversary of the murder of Washington Post Global Opinions contributing columnist Jamal Khashoggi on Monday, October 2 at 10:00 a.m. ET. Khashoggi, who was openly critical of the Saudi government in his columns for the Washington Post, was ambushed by 15 Saudi government officials inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul and killed and dismembered half a decade ago on October 2, 2018. Vice Presidential Debate Watch
The National Press Club will hold a watch party for the debate between vice presidential candidates Democrat Tim Walz and Republican JD Vance on Tuesday, Oct. 1, starting at 9 p.m. Club members and guests can watch the debate on a wide plasma screen in the Truman Lounge and in the adjacent Reliable Source restaurant, by the fireplace. The restaurant will be open until 9:45 p.m., serving dinner and bar snacks.
