With the tax deadline looming and presidential candidates talked up their plans for tax reforms, John Koskinen, commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, spoke at March 24, 2016 National Press Club luncheon.
Koskinen, who has led the agency since Dec. 2013, discussed the future of the IRS, which collects $3.3 trillion in tax revenue each year, employs about 90,000 people and has a budget of approximately $11.2 billion. Challenges facing the commissioner include improving customer service and dealing with the risk of hacking and identity theft.
