Mr. Grosvenor talked about the results of a Gallup Organization survey of persons around the world on geographical knowledge. He said the results were poor, indicating poor readiness to deal with the world. Knowledge of geography also is necessary to understand politics, history, and other fields. He also said that the National Geographic Society is helping to train geography teachers. Mr. Gallup joined him briefly during the question-and-answer session.
