Retirement Issues

Former Governor Keating talked about the financial crisis facing baby boomers upon retirement. He pointed out the danger of being a debtor nation using the money of others to build the next industrial base. He warned that money may not always be available from abroad but there is a shortfall of savings in this country, not only for investment but for retirement. He listed statistics of the savings necessary for retirement and compared them with other countries. Former Governor Keating also discussed various proposed tax incentives for savings. He responded to questions submitted by the audience, some of which were on current political events.
