You can still get a ticket and learn to podcast today

If you’ve ever wanted to try podcasting but aren’t quite sure where to begin, join the National Press Club Journalism Institute’s Introduction to Podcasting class on Wednesday, March 7, taught by board member and member of the National Press Club podcasting team Molly McCluskey.

Choose from one of two sessions, an afternoon class from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the Club's Bloomberg Room, and an evening class from 6 p.m.to 8 p.m. in the Cosgrove Lounge on the 14th floor. While open to the public, participants in the evening class will be asked to honor the 14th floor’s off-the-record tradition. Tickets are $5 for Club members; $10 for the general public. Registration is required, and previous classes sold out quickly. Tickets can be purchased here.

Using the Club’s Update One podcast as a model, McCluskey will teach the basics of podcasting, from selecting a topic and preparing and conducting the interview, to tips on best practices and putting your guest (and yourself!) at ease in front of a microphone, to selecting the best gear and software to suit your needs. Whether you’re looking to begin a podcast as part of an established brand or company, or looking to start it on your own, Molly will give you the tools to get started.

Molly McCluskey is an award-winning journalist whose work has appeared in The Atlantic, Rolling Stone, The Washington Post, Al Jazeera English and many more. She’s hosted a travel radio show on FNTX and has been a regular guest on both radio and podcast segments. She has also trained several Club members in podcasting best practices.
