Video of South Africa Night honoring Nelson Mandela on NPC website

A video of the Nov. 26 South Africa night program honoring Nelson Mandela is now available on the Club's website at http://press.org/news-multimedia/videos/south-africa-night.

The video opens with a performance of a traditional South African gumboot dance by the Taratibu Youth Association from Mount Rainier, Md., and features recollections by former NPC president Gil Klein of Mandela’s appearance at an NPC luncheon on Oct. 7, 1994; the evening’s keynote speech by South African Ambassador Ebrahim Rasool; and the remarks Edward Perkins, the first U.S. black ambassador to South Africa; and Charlene Smith and Phillip van Niekerk, two South African journalists who covered the transition from the era of apartheid to democracy.
