Using Social Media Is Subject of Friday Breakfast at the Club

A lesson on how to use social media for branding purposes is the subject of a "Get It Online" program Friday at the Club.

Fellow Communicator members and Vocus' social-media manager Stacey Miller will lead the breakfast from 8:30-10 a.m. on Oct. 4 in the Truman Lounge.

The event is hosted by the NPC's Communications and Marketing and Events Committees. There is no charge for Press Club members and, as always, breakfast is complimentary in the Reliable Source. Members may register their guests for $10.

According to the 2012 Fortune 500 Social CEO Index, chief executive officers lag far behind the general population in terms of overall social-media participation. Using social media can build their personal brand and create opportunities for their companies. A personal brand is what people see when they view someone professionally. Just like a product brand delivers sales, a personal 'X-factor' can deliver opportunities, new contacts, bigger projects and more influence.

Miller plans to discuss everything executives need to start a personal brand that exhibits strong leadership, credible industry expertise and most importantly, results.

Miller is a keynote speaker and her writing has appeared in Forbes, American Express Open Forum and the Washington Business Journal. In 2012, Oracle named Miller a finalist for its Community Manager of the Year Award. A frequent advisor to industry marketing executives, Miller has consulted on social media strategy for everyone from beginners to CEOs.
