Transportation Secretary LaHood to make farewell remarks at National Press Club Newsmaker event

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, who is stepping down after more than four years at the department's helm, will make his farewell remarks at a Newsmakers news conference on Thursday, June 27 at 10 a.m. in the First Amendment Lounge.

LaHood’s crusade against the use of cell phones and other electronic devices while driving has made the phrase “distracted driving” a household term. The Transportation Department under LaHood's leadership has also advocated for crash-data recorders in cars and light trucks and pushed for tough fines for Toyota for alleged safety violations.
